So Why the Umbrella?

Throughout the Bible, when God calls someone to a special task, He gives them a new name. Abraham, Sarah, Israel, Peter, Paul, … even the angels have names for their missions. We chose our new name, with prayer, to speak to what we feel called to do.

Children’s: We want every work we undertake to speak of God’s love for His children.

Umbrella: Life is difficult, full of storms and deserts. Our umbrella is a sign of shelter and protection, of God’s overshadowing care “as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings”.

Outreach: As we reach out to serve God’s children, we invite our neighbors to step outside themselves and join us in forming new connections with each other and with those who will receive benefit from the work we do. Even those we never meet are gathered in to this fellowship in our prayers.

Our name reminds us of who we are striving to become. Pray with us that we will live up to it!
